Meet Maia Fils-Aimé — pronounced Mai-uh fees em-MAY. Maia is nine, a fourth grader at St. Nicole’s Academy. She gets good grades, loves sketching fashion designs, and wants to make her family proud. She is kind, smart, creative, and determined, and most of the time she knows exactly what she is supposed to do. But getting started, staying focused, and keeping track of time can still feel unexpectedly hard. At home, Kompa, Sunday hair routines, family expectations, humor, and love are all part of her world. Maia has ADHD, but her story is about a whole childhood and the moments that help her and the people who love her better understand how her mind works.
